GOOD LAP vs GREAT LAP: How to get the most out of a lap at Monza with Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda
Monza may only have 11 corners but drivers have spent 100 years trying to get it right. In this week’s Good Lap vs Great Lap, Alex Brundle compares laps from AlphaTauri drivers Pierre Gasly and Yuki Tsunoda to see where they make gains and losses.
Brundle heads back to the 2021 Italian Grand Prix to see how Gasly made it through to Q2 at Monza, the Frenchman navigating traffic, then wheelspin at Turn 1 before getting a valuable tow towards Della Roggia. From there, the Lesmos and Ascari Chicane follow – while the all-important Parabolica sets drivers up for a run down Monza’s massive straight.
