WATCH: McLaren’s new F1 car hits the track for the first time in Bahrain

McLaren have shared footage of their 2023 F1 car hitting the track for the first time ahead of this week’s pre-season test session at the Bahrain International Circuit.

McLaren pulled the covers off the MCL60 – named to mark 60 years since Bruce McLaren founded the team – at their Woking headquarters last week, with papaya orange remaining the colour of choice for the livery.

Now, with official pre-season running just a couple of days away, McLaren have arrived in Sakhir early to set up their garage and conduct a shakedown.

In a social media post on Tuesday, McLaren released a clip of Lando Norris heading out onto the circuit, along with the caption: “Time to unleash the power”.

Norris has been joined at McLaren for 2023 by former F3 and F2 champion Oscar Piastri, who takes over from fellow Australian Daniel Ricciardo – now Red Bull’s third driver.

Meanwhile, McLaren have a new team boss in Andrea Stella, who has stepped up to the position following Andreas Seidl’s move to Sauber, where he is now CEO.

Joining McLaren on track on Tuesday were Haas who, following an initial shakedown at Silverstone, gave new signing Nico Hulkenberg some laps in the VF-23.

The MCL60 and VF-23 will be back in action – along with all the other teams’ cars – on Thursday, when pre-season testing begins.
